The Commission adopts a report on the implementation of the EU Youth Strategy between 2019 and 2021.

The Commission has just adopted the report which assesses the EU Youth Strategy’s first three years of implementation. The EU Youth Strategy strives to “ENGAGE, CONNECT and EMPOWER” young people so that they realize their full potential and become active citizens. The Strategy supports young people through its effective instruments and tools, such as, among others: the EU Youth Dialogue, the European Youth Portal and the EU Youth Coordinator. The strategy has been adopted in 2018 following a dialogue process with young Europeans to develop the 11 European Youth Goals.

As shown in the EU Youth Report, the COVID-19 pandemic hit young people heavily. In response, the EU has significantly reinforced its support and encouragement measures dedicated to young people. Ongoing policy initiatives such as the European Education Area, the updated European Digital Action Plan, the European Skills Agenda and the Youth Employment Support package are all dedicated to boosting opportunities for young people and ensure their personal, social and professional fulfilment. The Commission is also increasing its efforts in involving youth in key European initiatives.

To facilitate the implementation of the EU Youth Strategy and the Youth Goals, the year 2022 was announced to be the European Year of Youth and the main highlights of the EU Youth report will feed into the Year.

Ωστόσο, η ΕΕ ανταποκρινόμενη στις σχετικές ανάγκες, ενίσχυσε σημαντικά τα μέτρα υποστήριξης και ενθάρρυνσης για τους νέους. Οι συνεχιζόμενες πρωτοβουλίες πολιτικής όπως ο Ευρωπαϊκός Χώρος Εκπαίδευσης, το επικαιροποιημένο Ευρωπαϊκό Ψηφιακό Σχέδιο Δράσης, το Ευρωπαϊκό Πρόγραμμα Δεξιοτήτων και το πακέτο Υποστήριξης για την Απασχόληση των Νέων εστιάζουν στην ανάπτυξη περαιτέρω ευκαιριών για τους νέους και στη διασφάλιση της προσωπικής, κοινωνικής και επαγγελματικής τους ολοκλήρωσης. Η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή εντείνει επίσης τις προσπάθειές της για την αύξηση της συμμετοχής των νέων σε βασικές ευρωπαϊκές πρωτοβουλίες.
